TIMEX Crosshair models
Some of the TIMEX models from the seventies that realy stand out are the crosshair models. A simple yet distinguising element on the dial of a watch that really ads to the expression and feel of a watch. At least that is my humble opinion. Where originated the crosshair and which function does it serve? Two questions that don't have a definitive academic answer. It has been ariound for quit a while, it's a crossing of two fine lines hence the term crosshair, and the function .... Most watch lovers think it's purely a design element. Others refer to the center of a target and therefor link it to precision, something a watch represents. Then there is the fact that the crosshair devides the dial in four equal sectors, making it more easy to read the time.
