Definitely one of the most iconic and recognizable (TAG) Heuer watches. The Monaco 'Steve McQuuen" with the radiant blue dial, contrasting white registers and red chronograph hands and off course the distinguishing square case.

First Automatic Chronograph (1969)

In a joint venture with Hamilton-Buren, Breitling and Dubois-Depraz, Heuer develloped the first automatic chronograph. This Chronomatic movement was introduced in 1969 and each of the brands gave it their own name. For Heuer it was the Calibre 11.

Fun fact: all chronomatics had the crown on the left side of the case. Not because of movement requirements but just to emphasize that the watch was selfwinding.

Monaco "Steve McQueen" - 24h Le Mans

This famous photo was taken on the set of the 1971 Movie ΅Le Mans" featuring the America actor Steve McQueen and the the Heuer Monaco Automatic Chronograph. From that moment on the blue dialed Monaco was forever connected to this icon.

Steve McQueen was an acrive racer himself. He often stated he was a racer who also happened to be an actor.
