ORIS Star ChronOris (1970)

Ref. n/a | ORIS Calibre 725 hand wind | 17 jewels | Diameter 38 mm

Introduced in 1970, designed in a joint venture with Dubois Dépraz, the ChronOris was the first ORIS watch with a chronograph function. Aimed at motor sport enthusiasts. At first the ChronOris was a mono pusher chronograph (start, stop and reset) like this one. The crowns @3 and @4 are to rotate the inner bezel resp. set the time. The ChronOris model was reinvented several times over the years with different dial designs and different shaped cases. But always in bright coloring associated with motor sports.

Some other early Oris ChronOris watches

One can recognize the early Oris ChronOris watches by the branding Oris Star on the dial. As mentioned earlier the chronostop function, instead of a real chronograph module, is another key complication of these early models. And last but not least, the early models all had the Oris calibre 725 handwinding movement.
